Tree Allegory

tree-poster

Photoshop, 10″ x 15″

This piece represents dreams of greatness; the young tree hopes to become an enormous, ancient tree. This is an achievable, but none the less, impressive goal. The photograph of the large tree is pixelated to give it a dream like quality; the sprouting tree is set outside of the archway frame to separate the dream from its current reality. The young tree is also “growing” from the bottom of the poster, causing the viewer to look up into the image, his or her eye moving upward through the piece. The text is flowing and ribbon-like, reflecting the word “dream.” The rectangular border around the edges of the poster frames the image, which is over all simplistic. The piece is unified through the use of subjects from nature and the common color of the borders and text.
